Fixture Cards

Members may obtain a fixture card by contacting the Field Secretary, Mrs. R. Crofton Held, at 540-598-0994.

Capping

If you are interested in learning more about hunting with the Bedford County Hunt, we encourage you to come capping with us. The capping fee is $50 for guests, sustaining members, and associate members. Please contact the Field Secretary, Mrs. R. Crofton Held, at 540-598-0994.

Membership

Membership in the Hunt is by invitation. Prospective members must be proposed to the Board of Managers by at least two voting members. Membership categories include: Individual, Young Adult, Junior, Family, and Social.

Special Categories for Membership

Eligibility for the following special categories of membership is within the sole discretion of the Board of Managers: Sustaining Member, Honorary Member, Associate Member, Educational Institutional Member.

Types of Memberships

Individual: INDIVIDUAL MEMBERSHIP is a single rider membership available to a person 30 years of age or older. An Individual Member is entitled to full hunting and social privileges and to one vote at Hunt membership meetings. The spouse of an Individual Member is entitled to the hunting and social privileges of Social Membership but is not entitled to vote at membership meetings.

Young Adult: YOUNG ADULT MEMBERSHIP is a single rider membership available to a person from age 19 through age 29. A Young Adult Member is entitled to all hunting, social, and voting privileges of Individual Membership. The spouse of a Young Adult Member is entitled to all hunting and social privileges of Social Membership but is not entitled to vote at membership meetings.

Junior: JUNIOR MEMBERSHIP is a single rider membership available to a person who is 18 years of age or younger, or who, even if older than 18, is a full-time student. A Junior Member may hunt and attend membership meetings and social events, but shall not be entitled to vote at any meeting. The parents or guardians of a Junior Member may attend the membership meetings and social events of the Hunt, but are not entitled to vote at membership meetings.

Family: FAMILY MEMBERSHIP is a multi-rider membership available to immediate family members residing in the same household, regardless of the ages of such family members. All such family members are entitled to hunting and social privileges. A family holding such a membership is entitled to one vote at membership meetings.

Social: SOCIAL MEMBERSHIP is a membership available to any person 18 years of age or older, or to a family (immediate family members residing in the same household, regardless of the ages of such family members), with an interest in the goals and activities of the Hunt. Social Membership entitles the individual or members of a family holding such a membership to hunt a maximum of twice per membership year, and to enjoy all social privileges. An individual or family holding a Social Membership is entitled to one-half vote at membership meetings.

Special Memberships

Associate Membership: May be offered to a current member of another hunt who is in good standing and holds full hunting privileges at that hunt. An Associate Member is entitled to hunt at any hunt upon payment of the capping fee, and is entitled to attend all membership meetings and social events. An Associate Member is not entitled to vote at membership meetings.

Honorary Membership: May be offered to a current or former member of the Hunt who has performed long and conspicuous service to the Hunt. An Honorary Member shall have all of the riding and social privileges of an Individual Member, but shall not be required to pay dues or special assessments and shall not be entitled to vote at membership meetings. Only an Individual Member or an adult with a Family Membership may propose offering an Honorary Membership. Such proposal shall be made to the Board of Managers. The Hunt shall have no more than three Honorary Members at any one time.

Educational Institutional Membership: May be offered to an entity such as a college or secondary school. This membership entitles individuals associated with the entity to full hunting and social privileges, but not to eligibility for colors or other awards. Neither such an entity nor any individual associated with the entity shall be entitled by this membership to vote at membership meetings.

Sustaining Membership: A non-riding membership which may be offered to an individual or a couple interested in supporting the traditions of foxhunting with the Hunt. A Sustaining Member may attend all membership meetings and social events. A Sustaining Member is not entitled to vote at membership meetings.
